Joseph Parker was floored twice by Zhilei Zhang but otherwise outboxed his foe for large stretches of the heavyweight fight to earn a majority-decision victory on Friday evening in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The YouTuber-turned-boxer has a big fight lined up for July 20, where he will face the youngest heavyweight champion in history, now long-retired 57-year-old Mike Tyson, at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Ever since its announcement, the fight has been attracting considerable attention. Not a day passes by without the teams releasing training clips, snapshots, and footage from varied talk shows and podcasts to keep the followers engaged. In one such podcast, Paul was seen talking about why he was considering getting a face tattoo.

The Mike Tyson tattoo has played a significant role in shaping attitudes towards tattoos in both sports and mainstream culture. Once considered taboo, tattoos have become more acceptable and even celebrated, thanks in part to Tyson’s influence.

On July 9, 1997, Tyson’s boxing license was rescinded by the Nevada State Athletic Commission in a unanimous voice vote; he was also fined US$3 million and ordered to pay the legal costs of the hearing. As most state athletic commissions honor sanctions imposed by other states, this effectively made Tyson unable to box in the United States. The revocation was not permanent, as the commission voted 4–1 to restore Tyson’s boxing license on October 18, 1998.

In December 2009, an Omega ad featuring Zhang near her home at the Park Hyatt residence in Beijing was splashed with black ink. In January 2010, Zhao Xinyu, a socialite and daughter-in-law of Ye Jianying, contacted the tabloid magazine Total Entertainment and claimed the ink-splashing had stemmed from Zhang’s affair with real estate tycoon Yu Guoxiang. According to Zhao, she introduced Zhang, then engaged to Aviv “Vivi” Nevo, to Yu, who later started an affair with the actress and gave her 200 million yuan ($25 million) in jewels and artworks as gifts. When Yu’s wife discovered the extramarital affair, Zhang believed that Zhao tipped off her. Zhao claimed the ink-splashing was orchestrated by her friend, unbeknownst to her, after the friend witnessed Zhang’s elder brother, Zinan, threatening her over the phone. Zhao also claimed that Zhang had split up with Vivi due to disputes over the prenuptial agreement.

Zhang Weili (Chinese: 张伟丽; pinyin: Zhāng Wěilì; born August 13, 1989) is a Chinese professional mixed martial artist. She currently competes in the women’s Strawweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where she is the current and two-time UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion. A professional competitor since 2013, Zhang formerly competed for Kunlun Fight (KLF), where she was the KLF Women’s Strawweight Champion. She is the first Asian UFC champion among women. As of September 5, 2023, she is #2 in the UFC women’s pound-for-pound rankings.

After being rocked early by a big hit from Roundtree, who was the runner-up in season 23 of The Ultimate Fighter, Pedro dominated the grappling game and controlled his light heavyweight opponent on the ground.

Zhang, says Tommy, “can be the godfather of Chinese boxing,” a pioneer for future generations. “The next Sugar Ray Robinson could be some 8-year-old from Shanghai who’s never seen a 190 pounds boxing division glove,” says Tommy. “They have the athletic talent pool. There’s no reason it can’t be.”

Jake Paul replied, “I’m not gonna get the Tyson one, but Tyson, like, got his legendary tattoo; he just…” Lil Pump insisted; probably Paul needs it since he’s like one of the ‘faces of boxing’. The Ohioan YouTuber-turned-boxer then shared, “So I’m just like, F*ck it, like, why not just do it because Tyson did it? It’s a story behind Tyson’s face tat is, it was like Wednesday of his fight week, and he just got it, and he showed up to the presser the next day with the face tat and he didn;t tell anybody. So I’m thinking about doing that in honor…”
